CHRISTMAS TEDDIES, DANDY DOGGIES, AND EASTER BUNNIES
This morning Missy Doodles thought it'd be fun to grab the leg of a big
white teddy bear our teenage grandchildren bought me for Christmas. She, Max, and I were on the couch and the teddy
seated on a tall speaker by the stereo system. By placing her front paws on the arm of the couch and stretching long,
Missy Doodles could just reach the edge of the big teddy foot with her teeth...very handy if you are a doggie. I said,
"No, Missy!" She kept at it, and I repeated, but added, "No, Missy Doodles!" She backed off saying, "Oh, you mean
me."
Missy waited until she had counted what she thought was the appropriate
"time out" length of time like she has heard that children get, and a few minutes later decided on her own that it
was okay to try again. I watched as she approached using her same method of delivery system, and once again, just as
she was about to sink her teeth into the object of her desire, I said, "No, Missy Doodles!" She said, "Oh, " (big sigh
here) "Okay."
Some period of time passed...probably at least an hour, maybe more…
and I watched her hop onto that couch with the grace of a gazelle (as her foster mom Kathy has so well-described of her) and
she headed back towards said Teddy Bear, but instead of trying to get it, I almost saw the wheels turning in her head or maybe
that was a shake of her head I saw as she turned and hopped down from the couch leaving that teddy sitting right where he
has been since the holidays!
Missy D~ probably thinks it's time for an Easter Bunny to be there instead
of a Christmas Teddy Bear anyway!
